What is a Welcome Table Gathering?

In Luke 14, Jesus gives us a beautiful and clear picture of His Welcome table. It is a place where all can find dignity, belonging and honor. At The Welcome Movement, we want to be a movement that is reflective of this type of hospitality. Welcome Table Gatherings can be virtual or in person, but the goal is the same. It is a time for us to focus our hearts together on what it means to be people of welcome in 2025. We want to be people extending an invitation to sit at our Father’s table.

If you are an individual or family passionate about ministry to diaspora people and want to join a community of like-minded people, this is for you. Perhaps the Lord is stirring something in your heart about displaced people in your area or immigration, this is a great place to begin. Maybe you simply do not know where to begin in processing the information overload that can come with the topic of immigration… this is a safe place for you to explore and ask questions.

If you are a church that desires to learn more about taking intentional steps towards welcoming diaspora people in your cities or community, these events are a great starting point, and The Welcome Movement would love to host an equipping series for your church or group within your church, and help you begin taking steps towards your neighbors.

Some gatherings will be focused on prayer and formation, some will be led by specialists and will be educational and experiential, while other gatherings will include a documentary and discussion time. The hope of each gathering is to allow God to form in our hearts His deep love and compassion for diaspora people so that we may all be an extension of His love to them.
